Social Media & Electronic Communication Policy
To maintain professional boundaries and protect your confidentiality:
I do not accept friend or follow requests on social media.
Email and text messages should be limited to scheduling and administrative matters.
If you choose to communicate electronically, please be aware that email and text are not fully secure and should not be used for confidential matters.
In case of an emergency, do not use email or text—please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
Cancellations & Attendance Policy
I understand that life can be unpredictable, and sometimes plans change. To maintain a consistent schedule and ensure fairness to all clients, I ask that you provide at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Appointments must be canceled with at least 24 hours’ notice. Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged the full session fee. Missed appointments (“no-shows”) without notice are also charged the full session fee. This fee is not covered by insurance and will be your responsibility.
Exception 1: One-Time Courtesy Waiver
Each client receives one free late cancellation per calendar year — no questions asked. After that, the late cancellation fee applies consistently, regardless of the reason (including illness, emergency, etc.).
If I need to cancel or reschedule your session with less than 24 hours’ notice, I will add a late cancellation waiver to your account. This waiver does not expire.
Exception 2: Rescheduling Within the Same Week
If you cancel a session but are able to reschedule within the same week (Monday through Friday), you will not be charged the late cancellation fee, and your one-time courtesy waiver will not be used. Friday cancellations only qualify if the session is rescheduled on the same day. This exception is subject to my availability and is not guaranteed.
How to Cancel
The best way to cancel or reschedule is by text to my HIPAA-compliant line (803.216.5885), or by messaging me through the client portal. You may also call, but responses may be delayed due to appointments, meetings, or trainings.
Late Arrival Policy
If you arrive late to your session, the session will still end at the originally scheduled time. You will be charged the full session rate regardless of how much of the session time you use.
Fees and Payment
Standard Initial Intake Assessment
$175 per 50-minute session
Individual Therapy Session
$150 per 50-minute session
Full Diagnostic Evaluation
This optional multi-session assessment is available for clients seeking a clearer clinical picture of their mental health. It includes structured interviews, screening tools, diagnostic impressions, and a written report. This can be done before starting therapy, as a standalone service, or at any point during treatment.
Session 1 (90 minutes): $275
Session 2 (60 minutes): $225
Session 3 (30 minutes): $175
Note: The written report will not be released until all sessions in the evaluation process are paid in full.
Payment Policy
Payment is due at the time of service. Accepted payment methods include credit/debit card, Thrizer, and HSA/FSA cards.
All outstanding balances must be paid before scheduling future sessions. If payment is not received by 5:00 PM the day before your scheduled appointment, your appointment will be automatically canceled. You will receive an email and text (if opted in) explaining the cancellation and requesting that you upload a valid card in Thrizer. Charges will reattempt automatically once a new payment method is entered.
Delinquent Accounts
If your balance remains unpaid for more than 60 days and reasonable efforts to collect payment have been unsuccessful, your account may be referred to a collections agency. Only the minimum necessary information required for debt collection will be shared.
Crisis & Emergency Situations
I do not provide 24/7 crisis support. If you are in immediate danger or experiencing a mental health crisis, please contact:
911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: 988
Crisis Text Line: Text HOME to 741741
Chart Closure & Inactivity
If you cancel an appointment and do not reschedule, your file may be closed 45 days after the last point of contact.
I will follow up:
Around day 14 via email and text (if opted in)
Again around day 30 if there is still no response
If I don’t hear from you by day 45, your chart will be closed. You are welcome to resume therapy at anytime, but you may be placed on a waitlist depending on availability. If it has been one year or more since your last session, a new intake assessment will be required before resuming services.
Termination of Therapy
Therapy is a voluntary process, and you may choose to discontinue at any time. However, to ensure therapeutic effectiveness and ethical care, I reserve the right to initiate termination under the following conditions:
Repeated No-Shows or Late Cancellations
If a client misses three (3) consecutive sessions without notice, therapy may be discontinued.
Extended Time Without Contact
If a client has not attended a session for 45 days and has not responded to outreach attempts, therapy may be considered discontinued. They may reach out at any time to resume services again, but may be added to the wait list if there currently is one.
If a client has gone without service for 1 year or more, they will need to complete a new intake assessment.
Non-Payment of Fees
Payment is due at the time of each session. If a client has an unpaid balance, future sessions will not be scheduled until payment is made in full.
Lack of Engagement in Therapy
If a client is consistently not participating (e.g., refusing to engage/participate), therapy may not be beneficial and may be discontinued.
Client Needs Exceed Scope of Practice
If it becomes clear that a client requires a higher level of care (e.g., psychiatric services, intensive treatment, or crisis intervention) or is outside of my scope of practice, I will provide referrals to appropriate providers.
Ethical or Legal Violations
If a client engages in threatening, inappropriate, or abusive behavior, I reserve the right to terminate therapy immediately and provide referrals as appropriate.
Process for Termination
If therapy is discontinued due to missed appointments, lack of engagement, or non-payment, I will make at least one final attempt to reach the client before formally closing their file.
Clients may request referrals for other providers at the time of termination.
A final termination session may be offered (if appropriate) to review progress, discuss resources, and ensure a smooth transition.
Therapy is a voluntary process, and you may choose to discontinue at any time. I may also initiate termination if:
You have reached your treatment goals or no longer require therapy.
There is a lack of participation or repeated cancellations.
I determine that your needs would be better served by another provider, in which case referrals will be provided.
